Inexpensive components of the 'wrong brand' are immediately dismissed as "mid-fi junk" without even listening to them!

Or maybe that's just me?
And as soon as someone experiments with a single or double-blind audition to objectively determine what is really audible to their ears and what is not ... audiophiles ATTACK the reported results of these auditions like rabid junkyard dogs because the results are at odds with their beliefs.
In addition some audiophiles cling to old technology like an infant clings to his "blanky". Many claimed 45's and 33's were worse than their precious 78's. Later they claimed 33's were better than CD's.
Later they claimed two-channel was better than surround sound. For many the old technology is ALWAYS better than the new technology.
